Dr. Colin Richman, has practiced periodontics and implant dentistry for the past 35 years in North Fulton County. We are fortunate to have this esteemed periodontist join our staff. Simultaneously, he is a visiting clinical professor in the department of Graduate Periodontics, Augusta University, Augusta, and is totally devoted to the residents and students at this institution. He subscribes to the concept that “Periodontists Save Teeth” whenever possible, and in this regard has embraced contemporary laser technology to support this approach (LANAP). Dr. Richman has published extensively and has lectured world-wide.
He is a pioneer of an advanced concept of periodontal augmentation therapy to facilitate orthodontic treatment, known as Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment (SFOT). He was trained in and began practicing SFOT 20 years ago together with committed orthodontic colleagues in North Atlanta. He has published several articles and 2 book chapters (in press) on the topic.
Dr. Richman’s passion for the interface between periodontology and orthodontics began in dental school in South Africa which boasted a strong curriculum with world-renowned faculty. Furthering his passion, he has established the “Dr. Colin Richman Family Perio-Ortho Award” given to residents and young faculty. About his decision to fund this award, Dr. Richman offers “Everyone needs to give back. I could not think of a better way to give back to our beloved profession of periodontics than to contribute to future research on a topic that is dear to my heart.”
Dr. Richman and his wife, Maureen, enjoy their family including 4 grandchildren.
